Based in South Central Pennsylvania, the Mason-Dixon Clay Busters (MDCB) is a youth Trap Shooting team organized under the Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP). The SCTP is a development program sponsored by the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF).
All of our practices are held at the Izaak Walton League of America, York Chapter (www.yorkiwla.org) located at chapter's grounds on Iron Stone Hill Road and the Jefferson Sportsmen's Association (www.jeffersonsportsmen.org) located at 4707 Sportsman Club Rd just outside Jefferson Pennsylvania.
In addition to regularly scheduled practices, team members participate in a number of competitions. Participants will also have the opportunity to compete in the SCTP PA State Trapshooting Championship held at the Pennsylvania State Sportsmen's Association Home Grounds in Elysburg, PA.
Focus and Goals
The primary focus of all MDCB activities is SAFETY. The program goals are as follows:
- Safe and Responsible Handling and Storage of Firearms
- Character and Citizenship Development through Teamwork
- Introduction to a Lifetime Sport that Families can Enjoy Together
Eligibility
The Mason-Dixon Clay Busters is open to boys and girls in grades 6-12 who are strong and mature enough to handle and swing a shotgun safely. Shooting experience is beneficial but not required. Please review our Program Information for additional information and requirements.
What you must provide
Shotgun (we have a limited number of loaner guns available by request), safety glasses, ear protection, and shell bag. If you need help selecting any of these items check out our Equipment Guidelines for Beginning Trap Shooters.
