Welcome to the Clay Buster's 2009 Season!

Based in South Central Pennsylvania, the Mason-Dixon Clay Busters (MDCB) is a youth Trap Shooting team organized under the Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP). The SCTP is a development program sponsored by the Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation (SSSF).

All of our practices are held at the Izaak Walton League of America, York Chapter (www.yorkiwla.org) located at chapter's grounds on Iron Stone Hill Road and the Jefferson Sportsmen's Association (www.jeffersonsportsmen.org) located at 4707 Sportsman Club Rd just outside Jefferson Pennsylvania.

In addition to regularly scheduled practices, team members participate in a number of competitions. Participants will also have the opportunity to compete in the SCTP PA State Trapshooting Championship held at the Pennsylvania State Sportsmen's Association Home Grounds in Elysburg, PA.

Focus and Goals

The primary focus of all MDCB activities is SAFETY. The program goals are as follows:

  • Teach the safe and responsible handling and use of firearms.
  • Provide a supportive team-based environment, using clay target sports as the catalyst, for teaching life lessons and skills that emphasize positive character traits and citizenship values.
  • Introduce youths to a sport that can be enjoyed for a lifetime, one that offers a level playing field, and one that offers all family members an opportunity to play.

Eligibility

The Mason-Dixon Clay Busters is open to boys and girls in grades 6-12 who are strong and mature enough to handle and swing a shotgun safely. Shooting experience is beneficial but not required. Please review our Program Information for additional information and requirements.

What you must provide

Shotgun (we have a limited number of loaner guns available by request), safety glasses, ear protection, and shell bag. If you need help selecting any of these items check out our Equipment Guidelines for Beginning Trap Shooters.

Costs

To help you better understand the costs associated with our program we have put together a Startup and Participation Cost Estimates document.

Come join the fun and excitement of clay target shooting. Our program is always looking for new participants, coaches and sponsors.
